BIO – Benjamin Done (Tenor)

Ben Done is a 24-year-old tenor from Georgetown, Ontario and is joining the Opera for a Cause cast for his first time. While originally from southern Ontario, Ben has called Sudbury home for the past five years as he completed his Bachelor of Arts (honours) in Music, majoring in Piano, and his Bachelor of Education at Laurentian University. He sang with the Laurentian University choir for the duration of his academic studies, performing various large choral works including Haydn’s Creation and The Seasons, Mozart’s Requiem, Orff’s Carmina Burana, Handel’s Messiah, and Mendelssohn’s Elijah. Ben also sings in the tenor section of Sudbury Studio Singers and has also performed as a tenor soloist with that ensemble. In the summer of 2018, he sang in the Ontario Youth Choir under the direction of Jon Washburn, which fuelled his passion for choral music. This summer Ben attended the Summer School for the Solo Voice in Saskatchewan where he performed in three concerts of choral, solo vocal, and opera excerpts and received vocal training from several distinguished North American teachers. Most recently, Ben successfully auditioned to sing in the World Youth Choir alongside two other Canadian Singers; a group comprised of 58 singers from 29 different countries. Ben is thrilled to be part of this year’s Opera for a Cause cast and is looking forward to pursuing further studies in voice.
