Jonathan Poenn was born and raised on Manitoulin Island. During high school he studied cello and piano in Sudbury under Dr. Metro Kozak and Dr. Charlene Biggs. Jonathan completed a Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance at the University of Ottawa in 2013 and a Master of Music Therapy at Wilfrid Laurier University in 2016. Jonathan is a member of the SSO, has given solo performances with both the Sudbury and North Bay Symphony Orchestras, and has collaborated with multiple Sudbury musicians. Jonathan currently lives in Sudbury, and is practicing as a music therapist on Manitoulin Island. He is especially interested in creating musical opportunities on Manitoulin Island through connections with Sudbury institutions and musicians.
